We get lots of emails from you enthusiastic rockhounds, so just before you send us a question, have a look below to see if it can be answered by this FAQ section!
How do I join the club?
This is by far the most common question we get!
The answer is simple.
Complete this brochure. We especially need the following two points to be clear and legible.
- Your full name (If we don’t know who you are, we can’t verify payment).
- Email address (If we don’t have this, we can’t send you any newsletters or updates).
Once you have completed the brochure, make sure you pay your yearly subscription to our bank account and include your name and write “subscription” in the statement details.
The next step is to make sure you either bring the completed brochure along to one of our monthly meetings, or scan it and send it to our club email (cmlclub@chch.planet.co.nz)
When does the workshop run and how much is it?
The workshop is a major part of our club. We offer a range of machines from large rock saws to trim saws, as well as flat laps, vertical laps and cabbing machines.
You need to be a member in order to use the workshop, however you are welcome to visit if you want to see what is on offer before signing up.
When does it run?
All going well, the workshop is open every Tuesday and Friday from 6:00pm to 9:00pm.
Please email in to check with us first if you do not attend regularly. As the workshop is run by volunteers, we are occasionally closed due to timing issues.
How much does it cost?
The workshop has two prices.
- $10 from 6:00pm to 9:00pm.
- $7 from 7:00pm to 9:00pm.
Additional costs
There is an additional cost for getting your rocks cut on the small and large saws.
- Trim saws are free to use.
- Small saws are $2.50 per cut.
- large saws are $0.50 per square cm.
